What this is
Is Aurora Visible is a free aurora (northern and southern lights) forecast. The moment you arrive it works out your location and gives you one clear verdict — combining the live Kp index, your darkness window, cloud cover and the moon. No jargon, no decoding a space-weather dashboard. See exactly how the forecast works.
Why we built it
The data to answer “can I see it tonight?” has always been public — but scattered across space-weather dashboards, weather apps and almanacs, none of which talk to each other. The aurora apps that do alert you mostly fire on the Kp number alone, which is why so many people get pinged under a completely overcast or moonlit sky. We fuse the factors that actually decide whether you’ll see anything, for your specific spot.

Who makes this
Is Aurora Visible is an independent project. It came from a simple idea: take the scattered public space-weather data — the Kp index, cloud cover, darkness and the moon — and turn it into a straight yes-or-no for the exact place you’re standing.
